Dust off that podcast, boys, things are picking up

October 8th, 2007 by Michael in Crash Blog, Studio News | No Comments »

Tell me, when is the last time you glanced at your podcast feed for Crash Effect in iTunes? Not having seen a little blue dot in months, I’d gather that you nearly forgot you were subscribed.

Well things are starting to pick back up again as autumn arrives and things have settled down for both Paul and I. We’ve begun rehearsing with our new bass player, Christian, and we’ve gone through a lot more of our material than I had anticipated. We do have quite a bit of refining to do and have to spend a good deal of time dusting off the material and polishing it, but I’m pretty excited about where we’re headed.

One of the changes you can expect from us is that we’re going to be a bit more focused on the material side of things, producing more one-off songs to download/purchase than full-length CD’s. We’ll still work towards that, but at the moment our focus is a bit different.

We’re probably not going to do quite as much playing out as we did earlier this year, but I think we’ll try to make up for that in terms of music you can enjoy in the comfort of your home (or your neighborhood WIFI-toting cafe). So dust off that podcast subscription, kids. Expect some new music coming your way.

And if you haven’t yet heard a sampling of our new bass player, check out his myspace page at myspace.com/x1an.

Help us get our single on the air!

June 1st, 2007 by Michael in Crash Blog | No Comments »

As you may know, we’ve sent out about 150 of our CD’s to radio stations throughout the midwest, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa. We sent them to any and all radio stations that are indie-friendly (in one way or another, whether they play them throughout the day or have a specific show for independent artists). Regardless, if you have an indie-friendly radio station in your area (in the midwest), call or e-mail them and ask for our single “Beauty Queen” or “Bomb”.

For Current listeners (89.3 The Current - both online and regular FM radio), use this convenient form to request our singles. Use it every day and a few times daily! Thanks for your support!

Some exciting news for Crash Effect.
We will be collaborating with Twin Cities local music legend Sam Keenan.

We are currently in preproduction for a full length album.
Sam will be engineering, mixing, and performing on that album.
He may sit in on a few of our shows while we are in the studio with him.

Crash Effect on Napster and other e-tailers

April 10th, 2007 by Michael in Crash Blog | No Comments »

If iTunes isn’t your cup of tea but you prefer other online retailers, our debut EP is available on other services including Napster, Buy.com, or even the overly priced tradebit.com (they want 8.99 for our EP, but .99 for the singles…. uh, can we say “rip off artists?”). There are dozens of other e-tailers pending setup in their system and we’ll be sure to let you know where else you can find our EP over the coming months.

Other pending e-tailers include V-Cast from Verizon, Rhapsody, Ruckus.com and Audio Lunchbox to name a few. As always you can buy our EP here at crasheffect.com or at CDBaby.com.

Remember that for purchases made through the end of April 2007, we will be contributing double the amount to UNICEF’s relief effort in Darfur. That’s twenty percent! So for every EP you purchase from crasheffect.com, we will donate $1.00 to UNICEF.

Bomb is now in iTunes: double or nothing special

March 22nd, 2007 by Michael in Crash Blog, Project: Global Effect | No Comments »

Our debut EP “Bomb: The Radio Singles” is now available in iTunes—and what better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than to send a little more help to UNICEF for their efforts in the region of Darfur.

From now until the end of April (2007), for every purchase of our new EP on iTunes, we’ll double our donation to UNICEF for their efforts in Darfur. So instead of donating 10%, we’ll double it to 20% of what we earn from our iTunes sales.

Remember that you can gift albums to friends or family in iTunes!

But why stop at just that album? If you also purchase any of my solo albums off iTunes (including Through, Sampler 2003, Tranquility, and Mystique), I’ll also donate 20% of those proceeds to UNICEF as well.

So don’t let time slip away. Hop on iTunes and purchase a CD or two—for yourself and your friends.

Thanks again for all your support!
